RE: Yemen Civil War
Suggestion:
Hon.
President, let me start by paying my respects to you and through you to. We
have seen Yemen civil war countless times. If I am not wrong, there have been 8
wars or insurgencies killing up to 180,000 Yemenis since 1934. There have been additional
50,000 are believed to be died by starvation and 2250 are believed to be died
by Cholera since Saudi Arabia intervened in 2015. The Saudi Arabia-led
intervention in 2015 has been criminal and brainless decision which is based on
an erroneous evaluation of the traits of the Yemen civil war. The Yemen civil
war draws its reason from decades of marginalisation on the Arab tribe of the
Huthis by an autocratic rules sponsored by the KSA. Yemenis struggle is being
led for more justice and a fairer distribution of national wealth for more
inclusiveness in the political reality of Yemen. Moreover, we have to keep in
mind that the Huthis profess a peculiar branch of Shia Islam which is starkly
different from the Iranian Twelver strain so much so that they have been in all
times extremely jealous of the peculiarity of their religious identity. How
could they in the KSA and UAE ignore and dismiss all this by embracing the
politics of death and destruction in the poorest land of the Arab world? The
KSA and UAE are currently in the hands of leaders devoid of any idea of what
diplomacy and political visions are all about. KSA has been brutally testing
its newly acquired expensive weapons on Yemenis but the world remains silent.
How often do we hear about the genocide committed by KSA?
Hon.
President, we should pay more attention to alleviating Yemenis suffering. Yemeni
children are starving. No other country in the world is supporting the Yemen
economy and Yemenis. I can see no justification for the war on Yemen. It is
highly regret to watch the western powers including the US, UK, Germany, Spain,
Canada and France in Yemen civil war which is entirely caused by their
relentless supply of weapons to KSA and the UAE. They have also been providing
diplomatic cover. The US and the UK are directly responsible for Yemen civil
war on the Yemenis. They are being involved in supporting the Saudi terror
regime. The western powers should stop being an accomplice in this genocide.
They should held MBS and his fellows accountable for the suffering of the
people of Yemen. Now the western powers should stop selling arms to KSA and the
UAE. In real politics, they should deal with various kinds of authoritarian
regimes but betting on despots is more risky than on dealing with international
civil societies. Please remember it. Western powers needed to make deals which
should be sharpened and waived in order to strike with it one to misbehaving
dictators head relentlessly when necessary. They must be pressured to end its
client state’s war in Yemen.
Hon.
President, the principal external actor in Yemen civil war is KSA followed by
the UAE. The KSA and UAE are intentionally bombing civilian targets in a
campaign of starvation all made possible with western powers and political
support. Western powers are keeps turning a blind eye when innocent Yemenis
died without taking a strong position against the KSA and UAE. Western powers policy
remains untouched by blood and gore. It is my humble request to western powers
proves their seriousness about pressing the KSA and UAE to end the bloodshed.
Yemen civil war is one of the worst man made famines in world history. The KSA
and UAE bear’s responsibility and repeating 14 million Yemenis (approximately)
are at imminent risk of femine not all Yemenis may starve but most of the
Yemenis will have developmental problems for the Yemenis lives.
Hon.
President, ending civil war in Yemen would be a start but it is very far from
enough. Whoever involved or ordered in the Khashoggi murder need to be
punished. The Qatar blockade needs to be ended. The KSA and UAE must stop their
campaign of assassinations and targeting of groups who support the Arab spring.
I am always thinking of Iraq and Libya. What wonderfully successful their
campaigns. Both Iraq and Libya were restoring their democracy to the Middle
East. Why not Yemen? We could have brought an early conclusion and avoided the
human catastrophe in Yemen if UNSC should have authorised the use of force in
accordance with the resolution 2216 (2015) it voted and it could have arranged
to do the job itself much more efficient way than KSA. The clumsiness targeting
of the KSA who’s causing many human tragedies but it is highly regret to say
that western powers simply washing its hands from a resolution. I fervently
hope that one day the western powers will held them accountable for what we
might well call genocide one day.
Hon.
President, we need to stop pretending that our addiction to Middle East oil should
be reconciled with waning. Western powers belief that liberal rules based
international order. In my opinion, it can’t and no expedient like belatedly
demanding an end to the humanitarian disaster producing war in Yemen. Most of
the countries have engaged in the appeasement of oil producing regimes in the
Middle East for 45 years. We need to put an end to our hypocrisy and
self-deceit. We should end our dependence on Middle East oil by finding alternative
energy sources. I would recommend renewable energy as a matter of national
security. The sooner we develop other energy technologies that make us less
reliant on Middle East oil. We can clean our planet. We can conscience massive
tax breaks and R&D funding to someone who’ll deliver clean alternative
energy.
Thank
you very much for your attention Hon. President.
Respectfully
yours
