MULLAPERIYAR DAM ISSUE - AN IMPECCABLE ANALYSIS

Mullaperiyar Dam Issue – An Impeccable Analysis

RE: Mullaperiyar Issue

Suggestion: WE SHOULD NOT ACCEPT KERALA GOVERNMENT WRONG PROPAGANDA.

Good Morning Ms. Chief Minister. Again I am writing to you after the appropriate analysis of the facts of Mullaperiyar Dam. The present Dam is at 2800 mts above sea level and the proposed Dam will be at 1800 mts sea level that means it will be 366 m below the centre line of existing Dam.  Practically we won’t get water even if the Kerala government ready to give water to our state because the new Dam that Government of Kerala is proposing is at an altitude 50 feet lesser than the current Dam. The water will come to Tamilnadu only if it is more than 100 feet. When new Dam is constructed with 150 feet height, then also it will be 50 feet lesser than the current level. As a result we won’t get water. In addition, they are trying to put full power on new dam. Kerala government does the wrong propaganda trying to put our state in trouble. Instead they have Idukki Dam 50 kms away from Mullaperiyar Dam which has holding the capacity of 7 times of Mullaperiyar Dam. Kerala government has plan to using the same water from Mullaperiyar to produce power. They are not getting enough water for generating power from Idukki Dam. That is the real fact. If I am not mistaken, what is the capacity of the Mullaperiyar Dam, it is 15 tmc. What is the capacity of the Idukki Dam, it is 70 tmc. If 40 lakhs people will die with 15 tmc dam, then how many will die in 70 tmc Dam? Can you ask them to remove Idukki Dam too?  Because mild damaging earthquake of magnitude 4.5 and intensity VI on the MM scale occurred on June 7, 1988 20 km east of the Idukki reservoir. Why the Government of Kerala is not talking about reservoir induced seismicity caused by Idukki Dam? Why the Government of Kerala never talked about constructing a new Dam in the existing Dam? Why do they want to keep the height of the new Dam lower than the existing Dam? If new Dam is needed then why Supreme Court suggests that we the people of Tamilnadu ready to build new Dam in the same ground with our money. The Government of Kerala needs not to spend their money at all.

Let me conclude it Ms. Chief Minister, from my perspective, none of the Government of Kerala claims are true or based on evidence. Today I realize that they all ill mind set. Dam is not weak. If the Dam is really weak, the best solution is to construct a new, strong and modern Dam on the exact site of the present Dam and to raise the water to 142 feet as suggested by the Supreme Court of India. I am confident that you will take decisive decision on Mullaperiyar issue to save our state economy and people.

I am Athinarayanan Sanjeevraja with great respect of you.

Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

To put things into perspective, Nagorno-Karabakh is not an independent entity but an occupied territory of the Azerbaijan Republic and is recognised by the international community and the UN. The fact that the Armenian Prime Minister's son is doing his military service in the Armenian army located in Azerbaijan's Nagorno-Karabakh and started an undeclared war against Azerbaijan, occupied Nagorno-Karabakh and 7 adjacent regions of Azerbaijan, and massacred and forcefully deported Azerbaijani aborigines was the main reason for the lack of peace in the region. The laws of armed conflict failed to protect the Nagorno-Karabakh civilian population, individual civilians, and civilian property. The laws of armed conflict failed to discriminate between those taking parts in the fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh. The laws of armed conflict failed to protect the environment as war causes severe or long term damage to the environment. The fact here is that there is a number of international doc...
