CONSULTATION ON THE QUALITY OF DRINKING WATER WITHIN THE EUROPEAN UNION


ABSTRACT

The paper deals with the safety in drinking water supply which includes risk assessment and management, water safety plans, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Quantative Microbial Risk Assessment (QMRA), good disinfection practice Supervisry Control and Data Acquisation (SCADA), water crisis management, water borne outbreaks, barriers for microbes and chemicals, drinking water quality which includes water treatment, barriers for microbes and chemicals, evaluation and optimisation of the efficiency of water treatment, Natural Organic Matter (NOM) increase in surface water, NOM removal, NOM characterisation, climate change, emerging pollutants, fungus, indicators of virus in drinking water, water borne outbreaks and illness, water distribution system which includes drinking water quality, materials in contact with water, operation and maintenance in safeguarding drinking water quality, backflow prevention and leakage, water management which includes benchmarking, price of water, value of water, water efficiency (consumption and leakage), cost benefit analysis of investments, asset management, image of the water sector, education, organisations and EU legislation within the European Union (EU). The aim of this paper is to contribute to improve supply with high quality drinking water within the European Union.
