RE: Granting of DAS licence to Tamilnadu
Arasu Cable TV Corporation for the interest of low and middle income groups of people.
Good Morning Mr.
Minister. Your good office asked TRAI to expedite the process of granting DAS
licence to a government or government owned entities or political parties. TRAI h
as struck to its November 2008 recommendation. Well. I
just wanted to put up one question to your good office, when you are not
granting DAS licence to Tamilnadu Arasu Cable TV, why should you granted DAS
licence to Prasar Bharati? TRAI also said that the government should further strengthen the
relationship with Prasar Bharati. According to me, the states and individuals are an equal position before the law.
I do not see the principle of Unity in our judiciary. Because of that our country is still in flawed democracy. Tamilnadu Arasu
Cable TV is interesting in giving all cable channels in cheap price. It aims to
provide cable services for low and middle income groups of Tamilnadu people at
low costs. Why the central government is acting in favour of private cable
operators. Now private operators should decide which channel people watch.
Supreme Court should interfere in DAS licence and put an end to this monopoly
and allow the people to select their MSO (Multi-System Operator) as per their wish.
TRAI said that
almost all advanced economies, the governments were debarred from holding
broadcasting license. This statement is so wrong footed because in USA,
broadcasting was established as commercial enterprise but UK, New Zealand, Australia and many
more advanced economies established as a government run essential service. TRAI also said that state governments or
political parties may use media wrongly in party interest and not necessarily
in national interest. This is statement also erroneous because private players
too use media wrongly. For instance, SUN TV, Tamilnadu who use media wrongly
for in DMK party interest and many private players use media wrongly. I am not
interest to diisclose the list of Indian Medias who use media wrongly for
political parties’ interest.
To conclude, I suggested your good office that the current broadcasting
policy seems to have caused a dire lack of clarity in DAS licence. I most
humbly prayed your good office to investigate well, show favour to none
including Prasar Bharathi, maintain impartiality while drafting any policy and
try to understand the needs of the citizens. I hope that your good office to
take a decisive decision to grant DAS licence to Tamilnadu Arasu Cable TV for
the benefit of low and middle income group of Tamilnadu people.
Please accept, your Excellency, the assurances of my Chief Minister
highest consideration of granting of DAS licence to Tamilnadu Arasu Cable TV
Corporation for the benefits of low and middle income groups of Tamilnadu people.
Sincere Regards,
Athinarayanan
Sanjeevraja.
