EXPLOITING
ENERGY TO ACCELERATE TAMILNADU ECONOMIC GROWTH

: Enhancing Tamilnadu Power Supply to
accelerate economic
growth
Suggestion : State wide solar
photovoltaic installations
Good Morning Ms. Chief Minister. I
heard that Tamilnadu is experiencing two hours power cut takes place every day.
Why don’t you come up with the fact and should inform the people the problem
you are facing in getting additional power. I always believe in greater transparency.
I want your government activities are open and transparent to Tamilnadu people.
Why don’t you declare your noble decision through television address from your responsible
office? I am not in a position to say implement Kudankulam power plant immediately
because of nuclear radioactive waste that has a life span of more than 5000
years. The nuclear waste storage options definitely do not ensure totally safe
storage for the next 5000 years or so. In addition, it should operate very
efficiently and reliably. If you failed to cool nuclear fuel, it will burst. We
all human being. Man make mistake. But an American company has really a bright
idea build buried nuclear reactors that don’t power steam generators. Instead
it will use extreme temperatures to split water into hydrogen and oxygen and
use it for fuel. It is a great innovation.
As a German Scholar, I believe in Renewable
energy technologies are part of a broader long term energy strategy to reduce
greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental impacts of energy use. Solar
power systems are in the power grid (Photovoltaic) is completely problems free.
State wide solar photovoltaic installations will be a very good solution and
Government of Tamilnadu should allocate credit for solar power systems at
minimal interest rates or zero interest rates will play a major part in
accelerating the growth of renewable energy. It offer 5 year product guarantee,
10 year performance guarantee for a power output of 90 percent and 25 year
performance guarantee for a power output of 80 percent. But labour warranty is
just for two years. Renewable energy will always be an easy target for attack
when the energy choices that we now face are so hard. The cost of photovoltaic
has dropped dramatically and the price will go down further. In addition, with
high sunshine hours in Tamilnadu, we could generate solar photovoltaic
electricity at very low cost. It will also create more jobs for installers in
Tamilnadu. In fact Germany
is leading the world in terms of installed solar photovoltaic panels and with
12.1 GW of power, they now generate more energy than Japan’s 6 nuclear power plant.
Let me conclude it Ms. Chief
Minister, industrial manufacturing is at the heart of our first initiative.
Increasing energy productivity is ever more important in manufacturing. It is
time to move towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy source to accelerate
the Tamilnadu economic growth. Tamilnadu prosperity and growth are increasingly
dependent on the efficient use of energy. I also recommend, Tamilnadu Budget
2012, will play a prominent role in the growth of solar power and of course,
Government subsidies such as taxes, credits and standards etc. play an
important role.
Thank you Ms. Chief Minister. I am
Athinarayanan Sanjeevraja with great respect of you.
